Tips when applying for a job
If you are applying for any job advertised with Link Personnel Services, here are some tips to help make your online application as successful as possible.
Set aside at least 30 minutes of time to work on your application without distractions or interruptions.
Complete your application fully before submitting it at the end, as you can’t save it and come back to it later.
Complete the form honestly, especially when responding to the ’Role Specific Experience questions’.
Read the ’Role Specific Experience questions’ carefully and answer directly. Your application is assessed on these responses, not just on your resume. Be specific where details are requested, and don’t exaggerate the truth.
Do not use ChatGPT or other AI software to draft responses to the questions. We would rather read your own words about your skills and experience.
Make sure your resume or CV is up-to-date and only upload this into the application form. At this early stage we don’t need to see copies of qualifications or references, although these will likely be requested if you are shortlisted.
If you are shortlisted for an interview, you will be contacted. If you are invited to attend an interview, we recommend the following before you attend the interview:
-
Research the company and the role – review the organisation’s website and read the Job Description
-
Know your motivation for applying and be prepared to talk about why you have applied (apart from just having the right skills and experience)
-
Listen carefully to the question and answer all parts of the questions. Don’t be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat the question.
-
When asked to give examples, think carefully to give relevant and real examples of situations that clearly demonstrate your skills and experience.
-
Be on time (but certainly contact the organisation if you are running late)
