Volunteer Service Abroad - Te Tūao Tāwāhi (VSA) is New Zealand’s largest and most experienced volunteering agency working within international development. The Position
As a skilled storian facilitator with excellent interpersonal skills, you will play an important role in supporting the International Development and Insights team to pilot a new approach to collecting data for our monitoring, evaluation, and research programmes. In this role, you'll draw on your expertise in relationship building and your research experience to facilitate, transcribe, and translate storian with Partner Organisations and staff (counterparts) at either the beginning, middle or end of our volunteer assignments. You will be responsible for liaising with Partner Organisations and the VSA Vanuatu Programme Manager to organise a storian schedule and will ensure that storian are transcribed and translated in a way that accurately conveys original meaning and tone.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Postgraduate qualification, preferably in the arts, humanities, and/or social sciences
► Experience using storian as a research methodology and method.
► Fluency in Bislama and English
► Experience and expertise transcribing storian
► Proven experience and expertise translating storian (Bislama and English)
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Familiarity with transcription software is an advantage.
► Excellent proofreading skills, with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
► Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to interact in a culturally respectful manner at all levels across both New Zealand and Pacific organisations.
► The ability to quickly establish trusted and productive working relationships.
