The Organisation
Luganville International School (LIS) is located in Luganville on the island of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. LIS provides quality education, in a welcoming and safe environment. We are an independent, co-educational school providing classes from Preschool to Year 8. We currently have 70 enrolments. LIS uses the Australian Curriculum, tailored to a local context.
The Position
• Plan, prepare and teach effective learning and teaching programs using the Australian Curriculum to the ATISL standards (1,2,3 and 5)
• Tailor learning and teaching programs to meet diverse learner needs and a Vanuatu context
• Demonstrate effective classroom management that provides a positive classroom environment conductive to learning
• Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning for developmental feedback and reporting purposes, both written and oral (ATISL standard 5)
• Create a safe, inclusive, stimulating and supportive classroom environment that communicates high expectations and continuous improvement in learning (ATISL standard 4)
• Participate and support professional development
• Maintain student attendance and progress records with work samples
• Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders (children, co-workers, parents and community members) (ATISL standard 7)
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with parents and co-workers to improve educational outcomes
• Be accountable and responsible for showing professional behaviour and maintain confidentiality
• Other tasks, duties, extra-curricular duties and administration as requested by the Principal, President or Lead Teacher including but not limited to supervising school camp, attending PTA meetings, staff meetings, parent/teacher interviews, assemblies, yard duty, ordering provisions, sporting events etc.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Primary) or Post-Graduate Teaching Degree
► Recent primary school classroom experience, teaching the Australian Curriculum to the ATISL Standards
► Current Teacher’s registration Licence, or be eligible to apply for a Teaching Licence
► Highly developed written and oral English language skills
► Ability to accept responsibility for work, prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks in a timely manner
► Competent in Microsoft Office applications and digital technologies
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Experience in living and working in the Pacific Islands or rural and remote communities
► Experience in teaching multi-year levels at Primary school level
