The Organisation
Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) is implementing various initiatives funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), with support from Save the Children as the Grant Agent, from 2020-2023.
The Position
The GPE Activity Coordinator: Pre-Service Training Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is responsible to lead the implementation of all Pre-Service Training ECCE activities within the GPE program, which include:
Construct and equip a new accessible ECCE training classroom at VITE:
Recruit, induct, coach and train two new specialist ECCE lecturers;
Establish the new play-based Certificate IV and ECCE Diploma qualifications, including improve practicum, course materials and assessment tasks;
Coordinate with ongoing ECCE in-service activities from MOET, other development partners and GPE (new reading books and inclusive education activities from outputs 1 and 2);
Contribute to ongoing reforms to VITE;
Train the first new cohorts of ECCE teachers in the new qualifications.
The GPE Activity Coordinator: Pre-Service Training ECCE will report into the GPE Program Manager, with close coordination with VITE.
The initial contract will be for 12 months.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Graduate or post-graduate degree in education with a speciality in Early Childhood Care and Education
► 5 years experience in a Government or NGO environment
► Strong project management skills (planning, implementing, reviewing and reporting)
► Teacher training skills
► Excellent knowledge of play-based early learning
► Familiarity with Government of Vanuatu or NGO systems, policies and guidelines, ideally in the education sector
► Fluency in Bislama and English
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Knowledge of French is desirable
