The Organisation
With funding from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the Vanuatu Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) is implementing the Education Sector Program Implementation Grant (ESPIG) from April 2021 – December 2023. The ESPIG supports key priorities within the Vanuatu Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan (VETSS 2020-2030), including improving access to early grade reading books, improving inclusive education, and strengthening pre-service teacher training. Save the Children is the GPE Grant Agent in Vanuatu, and provides fiduciary, operational, and technical support for all ESPIG activities.
The Position
To design, develop, deliver and assess Inclusive Education courses.
Build the capacity of School of Education lecturers in inclusive education.
Supervise teaching practice; engage in educational research and studies and assist in community education-related activities.
Essential Selection Criteria
► A minimum of a Master Degree or equivalent with proven teaching experience in the field of inclusive education.
► A PhD qualification with teaching and research experience will be given special attention.
► Have at least 5 years’ teaching experience in the field of Inclusive Education. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in teacher training (specificity in both content and pedagogy).
► Vanuatu residence/ Citizenship.
► Police clearance.
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Extensive expertise in inclusive and special education including screening, assessment, adaptive devices and individual education plan development. Teaching and training skills for adults . Research skills. Course writing skills. Computer literacy skills. Online teaching and learning skills.
► Demonstrate high level of communication and interpersonal skills. Sign language fluency (any common language in the region). Listening, writing, reading, oral communication skills, negotiation skills, problem solving skills.
► Drivers license (optional).
► English and/or French: preference will be given to candidates fluent in both English & French (use of Bislama for non-nationals being a plus).
