The Position
Reporting to the Vanuatu Fisheries Department and the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the VCCRP located at the DOCC, the Fisheries Technical Lead is responsible for day-to-day technical management and coordination of the Fisheries components of VCCRP. This position will work closely with the VFD, the VCCRP PMU, and other partners to ensure that high quality fisheries related activities are designed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated.
Essential Selection Criteria
► 3 – 8 years’ experience in a Fisheries Technical Program Manager / Technical Adviser role or similar.
► BSc / BA level related to Fisheries, Livelihoods, or relevant studies
► Experience in management and implementation of a multi-sectoral project in rural and remote contexts
► Strong communications and presentation skills. Computer literate, strong reporting skills.
► Demonstrated experience in design, implementation, management and monitoring of Inshore Fisheries programmes in an international context
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Knowledge of climate change, previous working experience wit Vanuatu Fisheries Department and MALFFB on project implementation
► Ability to work under tight deadlines and achieve project targets in a timely manner
► Effective remote team management in rural and remote locations and ability to travel and work in remote locations
► Exceptional oral and written communication skills (internal and external stakeholders), including dissemination of project outcomes and research results
