The Organisation
The Vanuatu Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP) is a long-standing and integral part of Australia’s aid investments in Vanuatu, delivering policing and justice sector support. It has a hybrid modality and a joint management approach between Palladium, as Managing Contractor for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
The Position
Support provided by the Inclusion (GEDSI) Adviser is intended to achieve, but is not limited to, the following overarching role objectives:
1. To support VAPJP Program Coordinators, Advisers, Project Delivery staff and GoV counterparts to identify, develop and deliver coherent strategies (Profiling disability support) and initiatives in line with the VAPJP GAP aimed at supporting the mainstreaming inclusion across each of the four VAPJP components; and
2. To support program staff and GoV counterparts to meaningfully integrate GEDSI into all aspects of their work, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, adaptation, reporting and learning.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Demonstrated commitment to drive VAPJP’s ambitions to promote gender equality, disability and social inclusion
► A post-graduate qualification in gender, inclusion or development studies, or a related discipline, and/or equivalent experience
► At least 5 years’ GEDSI experience in a similar role
► Demonstrated experience in and understanding of GEDSI as it relates to aid programming and development issues (essential)
► Demonstrated ability to work with diverse organisations (or different parts of organisations)
► Demonstrated ability to design and apply GEDSI theory and concepts to guide integrated, flexible and practical improvements
► Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with people at all levels of an organisation, maximising cooperation and contributing in team environments to achieve collective goals
► Eligibility to work in Vanuatu
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Experience in GEDSI work within the police, law and justice sector (desirable)
► Experience of GEDSI in the context of Australian-Government (DFAT) funded initiatives (desirable)
► Previous experience working in Melanesian cultures (desirable)
