The Organisation

Save the Children is the world's largest independent child rights development organisation, making a difference to the children's lives in more than 100 countries. From emergency relief to long-term development, Save the Children secures a child's right to health, education and protection.


The Position

The Communications Officer is responsible for working in partnership with program teams to develop engaging content that increases the awareness and understanding of Save the Children Vanuatu’s work with key internal and external stakeholders including donors, partners, the media, and the general public.


Essential Selection Criteria

► Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field and/or 4-5 years work experience in a similar position

► Professional communication skills in English and Bislama, including the ability to write case studies, press releases, and other communication materials appropriate for an NGO stakeholder audience

► Demonstrated skills in photography

► Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to implement communications and advocacy strategies

► Strong understanding of the Vanuatu media – including social media - and communications industry and ability to cultivate relationships with media outlets and communications contractors

► Awareness of development issues in Vanuatu, particularly around Save the Children’s thematic areas: health and nutrition, education, child protection, and disaster risk reduction

► Has to be proactive in collecting content to generate outputs
