Palladium is the Managing Contractor for the Vanuatu Australia Policing and Justice Program (VAPJP), which is a long-standing and integral part of Australia’s support to Vanuatu, delivering policing and justice sector support.
The Program is supporting the Government of Vanuatu (GoV) to respond to challenges to the maintenance of security and the rule of law; and building longer-term capability to provide the justice, community and policing services needed by communities.
VAPJP entered its second 4-year phase (2021-2024) in January 2021.
The Position
The Communications Adviser is a short-term advisory role with up to 180 day’s input for 12 months from June 2023 (with the possibility of extension).
The role involves providing Communications support to the team and will report directly to the VAPJP Senior Manager.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Advanced or Bachelor’s degree (with comparable years of experience) in communications, journalism, international development, social sciences or another relevant discipline;
► Demonstrated high level skills in organisational communications, public relations and media management in a complex and dynamic operating environment (experience in justice/rule of law sector or protection programming preferred);
► Demonstrated creative skills in developing impact-focused and engaging communications products for a variety of audiences across a range of platforms;
► Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural team;
► A sound (or the capacity to quickly acquire) understanding of Vanuatu or Pacific development context;
► A commitment to skills transfer and effective capacity development;
► A self-motivated person who acts with Integrity and transparency.
► Graphic design, image and video editing skills using Adobe Suite or similar (including Canva, InDesign) are an advantage; and
► High level interpersonal skills, excellent presentation, writing and editing skills in English, with French and Bislama an advantage.
