The Organisation

The Position
The Deputy Program Director is responsible for overseeing the effective implementation of Save the Children’s development and emergency response programs in Vanuatu. They will ensure that programs are implemented in line with quality standards and grant compliance requirements, and will be accountable for all aspects of program implementation, including field operations, project-related procurement, and financial reporting requirements. In line with localisation principles, the Deputy Program Director will receive significant mentoring and coaching from other members of the Save the Children Vanuatu Senior Management Team and will be supported with a targeted capacity development plan to enable the successful applicant to take on more senior roles within the organization.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Significant program management or operations management experience in both emergency and development contexts
► Sound knowledge of program cycle management, financial management, and budgetary control processes
► Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, including the ability to think creatively, set priorities, and manage multiple work plans
► Demonstrated experience in managing and up-skilling program teams
► Highly developed relationship building, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

► Interest in making a long-term commitment to Save the Children and ambition to grow into more senior positions of responsibility
