The Organisation
The Australian High Commission in Port Vila manages the Australian Government’s presence in Vanuatu. We promote Australia’s interests, facilitate international trade and investment, deliver development assistance, respond to crises and provide services to Australian citizens. The Position
The Program Manager will support the implementation of Australia's development assistance in the infrastructure sector in Vanuatu. This includes managing program implementation, supporting high level strategic policy and program advice, and representation at a range of external meetings and events. They will also support financial management and reporting (financial, fraud, performance and quality).
Essential Selection Criteria
► Has good understanding of issues relevant to the role including an understanding of political and development issues in the Pacific and/or Australia’s engagement internationally.
► Demonstrated ability to provide sound advice and exercise good judgment. Has well developed problem solving skills, shows initiative and the ability to work independently.
► Has technical skills relevant to the role such as program management, stakeholder liaison, contract management, financial management and/or analytical skills.
► Written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality briefing and well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships, work collaboratively and support a productive working environment.
► Applicants must have a pre-existing legal right to work in Vanuatu.
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy, development or related sectors.
► Operational knowledge and experience in aid management.
► Knowledge of Vanuatu and government systems and language.
