The Organisation

Port Vila International School is an Independent School located in Vanuatu, educating students from 3-years old to Year 12. PVIS is a charitable organisation overseen by a Board of Directors. The Board delegate responsibility for the management of the school to the Principal. The Leadership structure of PVIS includes the Principal, Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal.

The Position

The Principal operates within the powers and functions delegated from the Board. The Principal is responsible to the Board for the good management and leadership of the school and operates within school policies and available resources. They play a vital role in delivering the Board’s goals – the student being at the centre of everything we do. Principal leadership is critical to school ethos and culture, through a commitment to the development and achievement of priorities. As a leader, the Principal seeks to enhance innovation and improved outcomes for PVIS students, their families and the community.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Current teacher’s registration, or eligibility to be registered (with Australian state authority, New Zealand or other equivalent registration board)

► Bachelor of Education or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching or other relevant recognized teaching qualification.

► Must be able to obtain a Vanuatu Work Permit through passing a general health check and successfully pass a police check to the satisfaction of PVIS from current country of residence

► Previous experience in leadership roles in a school (E.g. Principal, Assistant Principal, Deputy or Vice Principal) for at least 3 years

Desirable Selection Criteria

► Preferably available to commence at the start of the 2020 school year or as negotiated.
