● Port Vila based with travel to the islands
The Organisation
The Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is Vanuatu’s National Private Sector organisation. It is VCCI’s intention to become an organisation that makes a unique and significant contribution to the future of the country by representing the private sector in dialogue with Government and others, and by providing effective business development services across the country.
The Position
The purpose of the Communications Officer position is to: • Act as an internal consultant, to advise and provide practical communications support to all areas of the organisation including the President and Council, the General Manager, and staff leading the policy, business information and advice, business training, young entrepreneurs, and business resilience workstreams. • Position VCCI as a highly effective business organisation by raising awareness of VCCI, what it offers and what it achieves among target audiences, in particular member businesses and Government • Make it easy for everyone to communicate with VCCI • Promote training and events to specific audiences • Improve communication, media and public relations skills across the whole organisation.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant subject(s)
► Work experience in a similar role, where responsibilities and duties relevant to those required for this position can be demonstrated, for example communications, media, marketing, event management
► Strong writing, presentation and public speaking skills
► Website and social media skills
► Vanuatu citizen
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Knowledge of the Vanuatu media
► Strategic thinker – able to see the big picture as well as the detail
► Team player – collaborative and diplomatic
► Fluency in English, French and Bislama
