The Organisation
The Malampa Handicraft Centre (MHC) aims to unite women, men and children, including people with disability from Malampa Province by providing an empowering space to engage in sustainable business and showcase and sell their locally-made crafts.
The Position
Assume management responsibility to all MHC staff, including providing direction to work planning and task prioritization, providing technical advice, and managing staff roles of operations, sales and lead producers.
Essential Selection Criteria
► Relevant business management and business development experience in handicraft industry or related sector, including strong marketing and business-to-business sales skills.
► Strong financial management and reporting skills.
► Proven relational skills with an ability to work collaboratively and strategically with a range of stakeholders, including representatives from Government, training-related agencies, the private and productive sectors, NGOs, and donors.
► Excellent leadership and people-management skills, including the ability to create a positive team-based environment in the workplace and to encourage continuous improvement.
► Highly competent in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, email correspondence and Facebook for Marketing. Highly competent in use of computer and smart phone.
Desirable Selection Criteria
► Demonstrated experience in programs involving skills transfer, mentoring and on-the-job training.
► Previous experience in preparing summaries, reports and other documentation.
► Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in Bislama, and English/French with an ability to use both Bislama and English or French effectively in the work-place.
► Demonstrated understanding of social enterprise and women’s economic empowerment.
