The Position
The role of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Safe Schools Advisor is to lead strategic program development and program quality across Save the Children Vanuatu’s DRR and School Safety portfolio. The DRR and Safe Schools Advisor is responsible for providing technical leadership to Vanuatu’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Safe Schools programs defining strategic direction and ensuring high quality programming. The DRR and Safe Schools Advisor will be the focal point for business development and staff technical capacity building to progress DRR and School Safety programming in the country. Recruitment of this role is subject to funding confirmation
Essential Selection Criteria
► Tertiary qualification/s in Disaster Management, Climate Change, Education, International Development and/or relevant disciplines
► Significant direct experience of designing DRR and Safe Schools programs for an international organisation, preferably in a managerial role
► Understanding and familiarity with global and regional models or frameworks for DRR and Safe Schools, including national DRR and Education policies and strategies
► Demonstrated strategic planning skills and strong time management, administrative, and organisational skills

Desirable Selection Criteria
► Experience in developing concept notes and proposals
► Experience working in the Pacific
► Knowledge of Bislama and/or French
► A willingness to travel approximately 20% of work time as and when required
