The Organisation
The National University of Vanuatu (NUV) was established in January 2020. Its main campus is located in Port Vila and its purpose is to provide higher education advancement and lifelong learning through academic and professional excellence by way of training, teaching and learning in both the English and French official languages, research and international cooperation. The NUV has two Faculties – the Faculty of Humanities with five schools and the Faculty of Science and Technology also with five Schools established.
The Position
As a progressive educational leader who thrives on driving excellence and learning, the Vice-Chancellor will ensure the management of affairs, finances and resources are in accordance with the regulations of the University and are used in ways that most effectively advance the approved mission and strategic plan of the University. They will report to the NUV Council and ensure the promotion and implementation of bilingualism in the two recognized languages of the university.
Essential Selection Criteria
► An English/French bilingual academic of good standing
► PhD or Masters’ qualification
► Demonstrated senior leadership and management experience in a complex educational organization
► Minimum 5 years’ work experience at management level at a recognized University, higher institution, or public administration organization

Desirable Selection Criteria
► Demonstrated experience in proposal development, successful submissions, awards applications, and management of projects preferred
► Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, database management systems and other integrated Finance, HR and student information systems
► Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to organize, summarise, and report to a variety of audiences
► Visible leader who is personal and positive, inspires trust and is resilient and adaptable and able to lead change
