The Organisation

Save the Children is the world's largest independent child rights development organisation, making a difference to the children's lives in more than 100 countries. From emergency relief to long-term development, Save the Children secures a child's right to health, education and protection.

The Position

The Climate Change and DRR Adviser is responsible for leading strategic program development and program quality across Save the Children Vanuatu’s climate change and DRR portfolio, as well as leveraging our Green Climate Fund Accreditation and other funding mechanisms available to wider Save the Children Association. New program growth will be aligned with and supportive of Save the Children’s 2030 Vision and Breakthrough areas (Survive, Learn and be Protected) and Save the Children Vanuatu’s Country Strategic Plan (2019 -2021). The Climate Change and DRR Adviser will be expected to work collaboratively with the Government of Vanuatu and other relevant regional and in-country stakeholders to ensure program design and delivery aligns with government priorities, policies and standards, complies with regional frameworks and complements existing programs and initiatives.

Essential Selection Criteria

► Tertiary qualification/s in Climate Change and International Development and/or relevant disciplines

► Significant direct experience of designing climate change programs for an international organisation, preferably in a managerial role

► Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise and process information on development and climate change issues

► Excellent representational, advocacy and diplomatic skills to operate effectively within Save the Children and externally

► Highly developed communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to present information clearly and effectively to a wide range of internal and external audiences, including report writing skills

Desirable Selection Criteria

► Experience in developing concept notes and proposal for the Green Climate Fund

► Experience working in the Pacific

► Knowledge of Bislama and/or French

► A willingness to travel approximately 20% of work time as and when required
